In September of each year a Sunday is set aside as “National Grandparent’s Day.”  I have found this to be a day that can be used to reach people for Christ.  This becomes a great day to reach both grandparents and grandchildren.  This idea is both simple and economical.

Begin to advertise a number of weeks in advance concerning this special day.  Invite grandparents to bring all their grandchildren with them.  Invite the children to bring their grandparents with them.  During the service I have all the grandparents stand and I thank them for all they do and have a word of prayer for them.  Following the service we set up a family picture of each grandparent and with their grandchildren.  The following Sunday we give them a complimentary 5 x 7 photo as a keepsake.  You may also want to give away special gifts during the service (most grandchildren, youngest grandchild, etc.).  This can be a great day with simple planning and promotion.
