It is always a challenge as a pastor to make sure that there are enough workers in all the various ministries of our church. From the nursery to ushers to bus ministry, it requires much man power to do an effective job. We began an activity a few years ago which helps not only inform our people of all the ministries but also allows us to recruit new workers.
A Sunday evening is set aside each year in January called “Ministry Involvement Night.” We do this after the Sunday evening service in the fellowship hall. This is done as a time of fellowship for everybody in the church. As an incentive, we provide ice cream for everybody to enjoy as they go around the displays. Each of the ministries of the church uses half of an 8 ft. table and displays their area of ministry. They will use a display, some use a video playing or something to catch the interest of people. Each display is staffed by people who serve in that particular ministry which allows for information to be given and questions answered. A list is then signed at each ministry of those who are interested in serving.
This has been great not only to serve workers but also excite our people about what God is doing in our church. Here is an attachment which gives an example of our layout for this.
